I am 'uneducated' about ecp.

how does it work?
does it make you feel terrible?
how effective is it?
side effects?
usually how much does it cost? I do not have health insurance.
I also do not have a job.
I am 21 years of age.
I looked on the planned parenthood website
is that the only place the offers it? what about over the counter?

Hey Everyone,
Last night I had unprotected sex and I found out the condom broke. I went to the ER to get the Plan B pill two hours later, the first pill at 4am. I wasn't thinking this afternoon with Easter celebrations and I had a couple of sips of beer in my system. 45 minutes ago I just toke my second pill with a bunch of waters hoping the alcohol won't effect the pill. I wasn't thinking right and now I'm worried I just fucked myself over with some of the beer I had around this afternoon. My last period was Feb 28th and I know I'm supposed to be due this week and I've heard it will deplay by a week/two. I'm freaking out and already scared enough with the unprotected sex and all. If anyone could help me out it would be great, thanks.

hi everyone. here's the situation. i started kariva (bc pill) on the sunday after my period. i had sex after being on it for less than a week and decided to use plan b just to be safe. a day or so after that my anxiety and depression began to increase. now it's become unbearably bad, to the point where i'm having near anxiety attacks and heart palpitations. i think it's probably the kariva, but i've been on kariva before and i don't remember having side effects this severe. could it possibly be the plan b causing a more dramatic reaction? has anyone experienced emotional side effects after taking plan b? if so, how long did it last?

help !
I have been on Ortho Try Cyclen lo for approximately 9 months, originally it was perscribed to me to improve my skin. My boyfriend and I started having sex one month ago, and we always use condoms. However, last night, one broke and we didn't notice. Should I go to the pharmacy and ask for ECP ? Should I be concerned ?? I worry about everything and everything :(

thanks in advance!

I took ECP, (plan B) on Saturday October 6th. 6 hours after having sex and the condom fell off. Fine.. problem is. the condom slipped off again on Sunday and on Monday. Should I have taken plan b again? or am I still okay. I'm freaking out here. Being pregnant would be the worst at this time in my life. My last period ended on Sept 20th. So i'm stil not due for my period. I'm going to start BC once my period comes. What should I do?

update but still questions
I asked the people at the clinic nearby and they said I can take EC. i took it last night at 10, and i also took diarrhea medicine hours before, just in case it is more than loose bowels. but when i woke up this morning at 8, i had to go again and it was loose again. had i absorbed the EC at the time (it was at least 10 hours in my system), or did I pass it out of my system?

my system's all screwed up, so please help. thanks.

cross posted again
hi i had a problem last week with the antibiotics last month (2nd half of the month), but today i had my period so i'm ok for now.

anyway, just some concerns. i had loose bowels saturday, when i was taking the 2nd to the last pill until last tuesday, although i did not go to the bathroom more than three times. also, on tuesday, my boyfriend and i followed the condom video advice, so last night we tried it. the condom didn't slip, but there was some thick liquid at the shaft. we don't know if it's either my discharge or his spill, so i want to know if i should take ec even when i have my period now, or if taking my pills earlier will help. thanks.

on july 14 i got my period.
on july 22, a boy attempted to have sex with me. he did not have a condom on and only the head of the penis got in me and then we stopped. i am not sure about pre-cum but i don't think ther was any because we werent fooling around before that.
On july 23, i took the morning after pill even though the doctor says she didn;t think it was needed but if it made me feel better then fine.
July 28 i recieved another period. the doctor said this is normal because it can make your period come anywhere from 1-2 weeks earlier then expected.
august 21, i recieved my period. 25ish days later. normal for me.
now, its september, and it's 30 days later and my period isn't here. i havent had any sexual encounters that could get me pregnant since. all my friends are telling me to calm down because they believe it is close to impossible for me to be pregnant. i am pretty sure i was ovulating early in the month because i had a brownish discharge and i always get that when ovulating.

my quesiton is, is this normal? can the pill screw up your period for a few months?

Hi. pls read here:

OK so I've been having a painful throat infection since last week and went to te doctor. She gave me antibiotics Co-Amoxiclav, and I told them I was on the pill. she said that it wouldn't affect my Gynera pills. After 7 days my throat still hurts and i went to another doctor to give me an ENT exam. He told me to take a new antibiotic, Clindamicyn HCl. I asked him about the old and new antibiotics, and he said that they wouldn't affect my pills. But I read here that it's not safe. What's your opinion?

Also, I'd like to ask if taking ECs twice in a cycle would hurt, because I think I need one. Didn't have sex the whole time during medication until last night and we still use condoms. but at the start (we were starting, no penetration yet), when he wore the condom i had to wipe some pre-cum on his shaft with a tissue until it's dry. do i have to worry?

tnx in advance.

Hi i'm new here.

I had UTI and had been taking antibiotics during my placebo week. Although my boyfriend and i didn't have sex (because of my UTI infection), we got pretty far into stroking my labia and clit (stupid, i know) last night, hours before I got to take the first pill of my new pack (that was monday night, I always start on mondays). I'm just worried because although our hands weren't wet with pre-cum, we didn't wipe our hands very well (they were dry, but who knows, right?). I washed with Betadine right after. Is there a possibility that I could be pregnant? Should I take EC? thanks.

No side effects?
Okay. I'm on the Nuvaring. That is my only form of birth control. I've been on it for about a year and a half, and the only side effects I had were sore breasts the first three months. They didn't swell, they were just a bit sore for a few months. It went away. All has been great since.

So my boyfriend and I had sex around 10:30ish Thursday night. Friday night, we were cleaning the bedroom a bit and discovered, oh dear, my ring tangled in the sheets. It had been just about 23 hours since we had sex, so we dashed out to the pharmacy and I got a new ring (had to pay full price, ick) and Plan B.
I took the first pill in the car at the pharmacy at 10:15pm. Took the 2nd pill yesterday morning.

Now I've had absolutely no side effects. No cramps, weird bleeding, nausea, nothing. I did have a headache yesterday, but it's been hot and I'm getting over a cold so I can't really attribute it to the Plan B.

Is it a bad sign that I've felt nothing since taking it?

worrying a bit too
okay, so last night at 10pm i took my 7th birth control pill ever.  and i know that that's the one that's supposed to mean the end of a backup method of birth control.  so at around 1am this morning, i had some unprotected sex at the end of which he 'barely' pulled out.

now what i'm wondering is, am i alright or should i take the ecp?

and i posted this question (in a different form) at birthcontrol

last night, around 3am, i had sex with my boyfriend.. we were using condoms, but after he came and pulled out-- the condom was nowhere in sight. turns out it was still inside me... leaking, definitely... so much.

we went to the pharmacy, and i took ecp around 1pm today. i'm just really worried because my cycle has been irregular lately-- last month my period was a week late, and the month before it was a week early.

the last time i had my period was july 30th... i'm in the typical 'fertile' time?

after my period was a week late last month, i went through a pregnancy scare; i started taking the pill (loestrin24) on august 6th (5 days ago). the pamphlet says it's not effective until 7 days after, and my doctor said it wouldn't be effective until 14 days after... so i guess i just have to hope the ecp works. and deal with another stressful  month of waiting for my period / waiting to take a pregnancy test.

and i'm just so scared of ECP being ineffective -- there were ~12 hours between him ejaculating inside of me and me taking the pill -- and for all i know, and it's actually pretty likely, that i'm ovulating. and ECP does very little after the egg has been fertilized?

the statistics of 95% effective within a 24-hour window are very reassuring but i still... am just freaking out. i just want everything to be okay. i guess i just wanted some advice / reassurance (but only if it's accurate!). thanks so much.

So just a little bit of background information on this situation; I am new to having sex on a regular basis, and I am NOT on The Pill.
My boyfriend and I had sex with a condom on Tuesday (technically Wednesday morning, but oh well) at around 12:30 or 1 in the morning. I was on top, and shortly after he finished, I started to feel something wet towards the base of the condom. I am still at a loss as to how this happened, but when he finished, my assumption is that sperm leaked out the base of the condom. I know this will happen once he loses his erection, but he was still hard...I also know that you're supposed to pull out immediately after ejaculation to avoid exactly what appeared to have happened to us,  but he didn't. (Oops). I suppose he could have just been starting to get soft when it leaked, but I don't really know how that all works. All I know for sure, is that when we were through, there was something wet smeared in the inside of my thighs and sort of on him too, and I knew I felt something getting wetter towards the base, as i said. It could also have been from me. I'm not 100% sure.  So I went and got Plan B over the counter, and took it at 10am, so about 9-ish hours after we had our little mishap.  Given the conditions-- The fact that I'm NOT on birth control, we DID use a condom and it didn't break, just MIGHT have leaked, and we're not even sure that if it was infact semen, that it got pushed into my vagina, and the fact that I took Plan B 9 hours later and it says over and over on the packet that the earlier you take it after sex, the more effective it is, and you have up to 72 hours, or three days, for it to be effective---Would anybody say that I should still be as paranoid and afraid as I am? And if this helps reguarding my 'fertility" or whatever, the LAST day of my last period was just short of a week and a half ago. My menstrual cycle has always been screwy, I never know when I'm supposed to be getting my period, or when it will end. Another reason why I need to get on the pill IMMEDIATELY.  Thank you to anyone who may reply to this! Sorry if I sound like a moron because i'll admit I am VERY new to everything. Any input on this is very greatly appreciated!!

I was raped last night. He was a friend.  I called a trusted friend as soon as I could get him to leave.  She took me to the ER.  It all sucked so bad.  I've never had sex before...I was trying to wait until I actually fell in love with someone...and I know he went inside me.  And it hurts so freaking bad.  Without going into too much detail...does this mean I'm not a virgin anymore?  If that's the case, I wanna die.  I was out of it all day...and I'm starting to feel out of it again.  It's like I'm leaving my body.  I was given plan b at the ER.  Is that considered abortion?  How horrible of a person am I?  I feel like garbage.  He ruined me.  That was one thing I had...and he took it away.  OMG.  Can someone please help me!!!!  My yahoo is becca_jd08.  I feel like I'm losing it.

Emergency contraception access
I created a community called ecaccess, which is meant to be a grassroots network of people across the United States that can help women access emergency contraception, either with resources, directions, monetary assistance, or delivering/mailing it to the woman. If you are interested in being a part of this effort, please join, and let others know.

Condom broke - Please I need advice or opinions!!
My boyfriend and I were having sex tonight (or last night, July 6) and the condom broke, on the side. We both heard the pop and I quickly got off and we stopped. He had used the bathroom before we started so I am hoping there was not a lot of sperm in the condom, he didn't ejaculate.
We ran to the store and I bought something that has spermicide to prevent pregnancy but it's supposed to be used before sex not after, I still used it anyway.

My period hasn't been regular but my calendar shows I might be ovulating in 3-4 days, which scares me.
As for plan B, I do not have the money to get it. I am also not on birth control.

Any advice, help, or stories of people with this experience would be greatly appreciated. I am very worried, thanks!
